August 22 - Towards Animal
Liberation: A Discussion
The animal liberation movement envisions a world where the interests
of all sentient beings are afforded equal consideration. What would
such a world look like? How would society have to change to make this
possible? Is the animal liberation movement of today using the rights
tactics to move society in this direction. Join us for an open, free-form
discussion at what may be the most important Animal Rights Forum of
the year.

October 31- Does the Bible
Mandate Compassionate Treatment of Animals? -Dr. Richard H. Schwartz,
Ph.D.
What does the Bible teach about the proper treatment of animals? Does
the Bible have a pro-vegetarian bias? Does God prefer that people be
vegetarians? What about Old Testament portions about animal sacrifices
and which animals are kosher? Richard H. Schwartz, Ph.D., Professor
Emeritus of Mathematics at the College of Staten Island, is author of
"Judaism and Vegetarianism", "Judaism and Global Survival", and "Mathematics
and Global Survival." He frequently speaks and contributes articles
on vegetarian and animal rights-related issues. He has over 100 articles
on the internet here.
NOTE: The October animal rights meeting will be on the 5th, not
the 4th Tuesday of the month.
November 28- Why I No
Longer Test On Animals -John Hill Chemist
John Hill, who formerly tested product on animals professionally, will
address his growing reluctance over the years to participate in animals
tests. Based on experiments he has seen first hand, he will explain
why he has concluded that animal testing is scientifically inaccurate
and morally indefensible. He will explain the REAL reasons why companies
test on animals: protection from lawsuits claiming damages from use
of their product and FDA mandates that will not allow required studies
in humans on new ingredients until tests (and new formulations in some
product areas) have been conducted "proving" the safety of the substance
on various animal species.
December 26-"Not Milk!"
-Robert Cohen, Executive Director, Dairy Education Board
You are what you eat. But did you know that milk, one of our most common
foods, contains hormones that have been implicated as contributory factors
in asthma, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, attention deficit disorder,
mood swings, depression, and irritability? Is your family in danger
from a hormone that was just turned down in Canada and Europe as a result
of Cohen's work? Why is that hormone still on the market? And should
you be drinking dairy at all?
Robert Cohen, author of Milk: The Deadly Poison, is America's leading
expert on the greatest controversy in the history of the Food and Drug
Administration, the approval of a genetically engineered growth hormone
now in milk, cheese, and ice cream. Robert Cohen's websites can be visited
at notmilk.com and hungerstrike.com
